OMEGA has announced the launch of the Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal® Limited Edition, the world’s first watch to bond ceramics and Liquidmetal^®.

The remarkable world premiere is being launched in a limited edition of 1948 pieces in honour of the year OMEGA launched its popular Seamaster watch line.

Swatch Group researchers collaborating with OMEGA’s product development team have created a striking ceramic diving bezel whose numbers and scaling, made of the Liquidmetal® alloy, appear in stunning silvery contrast to the black ceramic background. The colour of the ceramic dial perfectly matches that of the bezel. The result is an aesthetic wonder only made possible by several new and innovative processes.

Omega introduced the sea master aqua collection of 2008 was well -received by the watch admirers. Aqua Terra Co-Axial GMT Chronograph is a new addition in the aqua range and is a novel watch to get the attention of the watch connoisseurs by its design and technology immediately on entering the market. The vertical lines and the concept of teak on the dial are inspired by the wooden decks of the luxury boats. A scratch proof domed sapphire crystal shields the dial and anti-reflective treatments are provided on both the sides. A luxurious self winding movement is incorporated in the watch.

        The COSC- chronometer has certified the outstanding movement of this marvelous timepiece. A chronograph mechanism featuring a column is fitted into this watch. The new GMT Chronograph is the best companion for the global traveler who always be crossing the time zones. A GMT hand is provided in the watch that rotates once in 24 hours.

        An added feature of this time piece is its water resistance. It can resist water up to 150 meters. A black PVD coated ring with a 24 hour scale is fitted on the bezel. The watch has a diameter of 44 mm and comes in two variants of 18 K gold and stainless steel brushed case. A bi-directional rotating GMT bezel is incorporated in the watch case. The Omega logo and the chronograph pushers are well polished that is demonstrated by incorporating a matt polished screw in crown. The co-axial movement of the watch is revealed through a window made of sapphire crystal on the well polished case back.

Omega Watches has added a new piece to its Museum Collection; the Milestone 1941 Collector’s Piece watch.  Taken directly from the company’s website this “museum was created in December 1983 to illustrate and perpetuate the historical highlights of the famous Swiss brand through the collection, preservation, maintenance, protection and exhibition of objects, documents and accounts related to the company and its activities. Some of the most remarkable items found among its collection are the 4,000 Omega watches, movement, clocks, instruments, tools, photos, engravings, posters, signs, awards and certificates.”

Strange as I’m not one for complications, don’t own a pink / rose gold watch and prefer a round face but I just have the hots for this wonderful piece from the Omega Museum Collection, in a limited edition of 1,951.
