The Sailing Touch from Tissot has been announced, with a number of features including a compass.
Prestigious watchmaker Tissot has unveiled its new Sailing Touch model, which has its roots in the historic need for seafarers to keep precise time.According to The Watchery blog, the new wristwatch, which features a barometer and air pressure monitor, allows sailors to keep track of weather conditions from up to the previous six hours.
Such features were crucial to keeping the crew alive in the 17th and 18th centuries, the site claimed, and modern day regatta participants can also use the Sailing Touch's facilities to significantly improve their performance.
"The Tissot Sailing Touch is equipped with a countdown function via beeps and digital display for the crucial ten minutes prior to the race commencement," the blog stated.
Other functions include a compass, perpetual calendar and the ability to measure speed over distance.
A new advertising campaign for Tissot will run under the slogan In Touch With Your Time, it was recently announced.
