Citizen's latest technology in its new line of watches means the devices can run on solar power, eliminating the need for batteries. A new line by Citizen uses technology that means the owner never has to rely on battery power again. This is according to JustLuxe, which reviewed the manufacturer's Eco-Drive collection. Using a solar conversion panel and energy cell, the timepieces are able to run on light and eliminate the need for the additional upkeep that a battery would require. With these models, Citizen is at the forefront of the market, the online resource explained. "An Eco-Drive watch uses the simplest, yet most technically advanced power generating and storage system in the industry today," it stated. One example of a timepiece in the collection is the Eco-Drive Chrono-Time AT. A limited edition of the model comes with a brown crocodile strap and presentation box. The manufacturer asserts the Eco-Drive power cell will last "a lifetime of use". One function of the timepieces is the Low Charge Warning Mode, which indicates the watch should be exposed to bright light to allow it to recharge. ![]() |
