Watchmaker Longines has re-issued the Atlantic Voyage in homage to American aviator Charles Lindbergh.
As a tribute to the American aviator Charles Lindbergh, prestigious watchmaker Longines has announced that it is to launch a re-issue of one of its historic timepieces. The famed pilot was the first to travel solo from New York to Paris in 1927 and made another landmark flight in 1933, where he used his specially-designed Longines watch to help him and his wife make their way on a trip around the North Atlantic.
According to watches-collection.com, the original Lindbergh Hour Angle piece, which features a sextant and nautical almanac, as well as a longitude calculator, will now be re-released as the Lindbergh's Atlantic Voyage.
"The Longines Lindbergh's Atlantic Voyage watch constitutes an exquisite contemporary version of a timepiece that was part of a great aeronautical adventure," the website said.
Ialreadyhaveawatch.com recently released images from a piece of 1920s advertisement, which showed commercial passenger jet the Graf Zeppelin carrying a large number of Longines watches inside.
